Concerns about the speed of vehicles travelling within the Parish have been raised by local residents many times and reported to Cumbria Highways and the Police.
The Parish Projects Group decided to raise funds to purchase two Vehicle Activated Speed Signs to provide cost effective and simple traffic monitoring, to aid traffic calming, ensure public safety and avoid accidents.
We are pleased to have received confirmation from Cumbria Community Foundation that our application to the Hellrigg Community Fund has been successful and we have been awarded a grant of £5,000 towards the cost of two signs. The signs will also be available for use within the Silloth, Holme Abbey & Holme St Cuthbert’s parishes and will be sited at key locations, to encourage motorists to reduce their speed and improve road safety.
